The Australian Botanic Company believes that a healthy inside is indicative by a healthy outside, such as healthy glowing skin, strong shiny hair and nails, and general physical wellbeing. We recommend the following tips.
 


  • Face CareFollow a healthy diet that incorporates plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables prepared in a way that does not destroy the food’s flavour and nutrient content. Scientific studies have shown that people who eat plenty of fruit and vegetables may have a lower risk of getting illnesses, such as heart diseases, some forms of cancer, diabetes etc. It is recommended that you eating five portions of vegetables and at least two portions of fruit daily. Ensure an adequate quantity of protein intake daily (55 g of protein a day for males and 45 g per day for females in one or two meals a day). Protein plays an important part in building and repairing your body. Proteins are a good supply of amino acids, which cannot be stored in the body, and hence a daily supply is important for life. Good sources of protein include all meats, fish, eggs, pulses, beans and nuts.
  • Drink plenty of cool fresh water to stay hydrated throughout the day. The average adult should be consuming 2 .5 L a day. From this, 1.8 L (the equivalent of 6 to 7 glasses per day) must be obtained directly from beverages. This amount should be increased during periods of hot weather or during and after periods of physical activity.
  • Get plenty of exercise to increase circulation and help eliminate toxins. Assess your current situation and your goals. Exercise can involve as little as a daily walk with the dog. (Please seek medical advice if you suffer from any medical conditions that may be worsened by physical exsertion.)
  • Get adequate amounts of sleep. The body needs time to rest and recuperate.
  • Take a good quality multivitamin daily, if necessary. This is normally not a requirement if your diet is well balanced.
  • Protect your skin from strong sun. The use of a good-quality, high SPF sunscreen may be required. Avoid stronger midday sun.
  • Minimise stress. Stress has negative implications on the body’s health.
  • Save time to relax and unwind. A good balance between work, relaxation and play is important.
